iAutomation, a high technology distributor of industrial automation components, has an immediate opening for an Engineer, Mechanical Engineering in Franklin, Massachusetts. iAutomation’s product offering includes machine control, motion control, sensing and vision, safety systems, mechanical components and stages. We offer engineered systems and services to provide OEM and end user customers a complete automation solution.
Job Description
- Collaborate with customers and the sales team to design custom solutions.
- Create and approve customer quotes and sales orders utilizing our ERP and engineering design tools as required.
- Use 3D SolidWorks to design safety guard frames, pneumatic assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, custom components, enclosures and various mechanical assemblies
- Work cross-functionally with operations to ensure purchasing and planning execution are successful.
- Create shop floor documentation and provide technical guidance internally and externally.
- Perform various stress bearing and maximum load capacity calculations.
- Research, designs, and develops tools, machines, controls, equipment, and mechanical processes.
- Oversee production, installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and development of new, modified, and/or existing systems.
- Work with production staff on design revisions and red lines as needed
- Collaborate and support customer support needs and on-site visits as needed for FIA.
- Work closely with other engineering areas to obtain optimum utilization of equipment.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in SolidWorks including Model creation and deformation modeling/simulation.
- Experience with Aluminum Extrusion including:
- Model assembly creation.
- Assembly quoting.
- Assembly Labor estimation.
- Experience with laying out and designing pneumatic systems.
- Prior experience reporting to management in other locations is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sitting for long periods of time. Long hours of computer work. Some car and air travel required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical office environment. Occasional visits to the warehouse or manufacturing environment.
